Even though nobody was expecting this, Sony unveiled a new flagship at the Mobile World Congress, rocking an absolutely impressive display!
We’re talking about the Xperia XZ Premium, the world’s first handset to feature a 4K HDR display, with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and featuring the hottest technology for TV, packed into a tiny 5.5″ display.
This time, it’s actual 4K content you’re going to watch on this phone!
However, this isn’t Sony’s first 4K smartphone, since they have already released the Xperia Z5 Premium, back in 2015, but it was still displaying the biggest part of the content in 1080p, so it somehow failed to live up to the hype. But with the new Xperia XZ Premium, Sony teamed with Amazon, giving users the chance to enjoy real 4K HD content!
Moving on to the specs, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium features the newest and greatest Snapdragon 835 under the hood, alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. However, thanks to the presence of a microSD card slot, the latter can be expanded, with up to 256 more gigs.
Man, now that’s an awesome camera!
The camera department shouldn’t be ignored either, since it borrows the triple-sensor autofocus seen on the Xperia XZ, with laser autofocus, a new and improved Exmor RS images sensor, as well as an RGBC infrared sensor, for adjusting white balance. Speaking about improved sensor, the main camera is actually a 19MP snapper, while on the front we have a 13MP one, with an f/2.0 aperture!
Otherwise, the Xperia XZ Premium features a 3230mAh battery pushing those pixels, a fingerprint scanner embedded into the power button, mounted on the side of the phone and, finally, IP65 and IP65 certifications, for high water resistance.
The pricing and the availability dates weren’t revealed yet, but, if you’re planning to actually buy this smartphone, don’t expect it to come for cheap…
