Samsung has been lately focusing on releasing new smartphones and they seemed to ignore their wearable line-up. Or at least this is what we thought…
Apparently, the South Korean manufacturer could release a new wearable in the near future! According to Android Headlines, a device with model number SM-R600 has been certified by the Bluetooth SIG and it could be a Tizen-based wearable!
A new member of the Gear family?
The trail is pretty cold right now, but rumors claim that this mysterious device could be marketed as Samsung Gear Pop. Again, these are just rumors, as the manufacturer hasn’t released anything about this (yet), so don’t take it as granted.
We don’t know if this is actually a smartwatch or a fitness tracker, following the lines of the Gear Fit and Gear Fit 2, but if you ask us, it might as well fall in the second category.
Samsung was expected to launch a device with this exact same model number back in May, at the 2017 Tizen Developer Conference, but it never happened. On the other side, since it just received its Bluetooth certification, we won’t be surprised if it’s announced soon!
Tizen could soon become a mainstream operating system!
Currently, Samsung has quite a few Tizen-based wearables, as well as a few smartphones, in its portfolio, so this presumed Gear Pop, or whatever the manufacturer decides to name it, will be a nice addition.
As a side note, there were some rumors about a Samsung ‘fitness smartwatch’, so this is a scenario which shouldn’t be ignored either!
Samsung is one of the few tech companies that managed to buck the trend it its line-up of smartwatches and fitness trackers, the latter even managing to create a trend among mainstream consumers!
