Lately, Amazon’s personal assistant, Alexa, has gained a lot of territory in its ‘fight’ with the likes of Siri, Google Assistant or Cortana and a lot of manufacturers are already taking advantage of it. For instance, Amazon just announced that Alexa will be integrated in the the Amazon Shopping app for iOS!
According to Ars Technica, this new integration allows users to speak to Alexa while they’re on the go, since the assistant can be accessed by simply tapping the microphone icon next to the search bar from the Amazon Shopping app.
Just like having an Echo in your pocket!
Of course, we all know that this was already possible, but now you’re not limited just to shopping-related questions, as you can use Alexa just like you would from an Echo device. To be more specific, you can access weather info, jokes, track your orders, play music from Amazon music or even read Kindle books.
However, this doesn’t mean that Apple basically agreed to allow a competitor voice assistant work on its handsets. The major advantage of Siri is that it can be enabled by simply saying “Hey Siri” and the handset will automatically hear you and start processing your commend. One the other side, you just can’t compared the two when it comes to controlling smart home devices!
And yes, you can also access the Skills
Our favorite part about this new integration, though is the fact the all the Alexa Skills are accessible in the Shopping version of Alexa. Sure, you need to hahve the Alexa app installed, but imagine that your phone has almost the same functionality as an Amazon Echo!
There’s no doubt that Amazon’s assistant is constantly growing, as a lot of companies have embraced it, either by developing skills or integrating it directly into their products, as we saw back in January, at CES.
